This rather large Echidna suddenly caught our scent and started sniffing the air.
It couldn't quite see where we were but took off regardless, straight to where we were standing.
What a privilege to see such a wondrous creature in the wild.
I'm not quite sure what it thought is was doing, but we moved quickly away from it's flight path. It had just squeezed under a fence and paddled through some water, so it was very determined to go where it intended!

That doesn't seem a good survival trait; still, it was great to see one so close up.
