Here is an adolescent male King Parrot just starting to get his adult plumage. He looks a bit moth eaten around the head but before long he will be as gorgeous as his father.
No, this bird isn't very common where we are Dorothy. This one and the previously photographed ones are the first that I've seen near the house. Odd that they were feeding in an introduced Green Ash tree, not a native species.
