It took us a while to identify this little fellow as he was quite some distance away and was just peeking out of the nest box. At first we thought it was a mammal, but nothing we knew looked quite like that and it wasn't until we could see his little feet gripping the edge of the box that we knew it was a bird, almost certainly an owl by the side to side sway that he did occasionally. A new bird to add to our list.

Have you managed to get a closer picture of him yet? It's exciting finding new things isn't it?
No, we can't get any closer, as the nest box is very high up. The photo was taken with a telephoto lens from a near by balcony. He went on the 'new bird' list immediately!
