Sue because of what look like wet spots I was going to say eggs but when I clicked to view the larger image a little box said 'fungus+2' so I am now going to change to fungus ;o) ofcourse you may have titled it fungus as a trick....
Actually I don't really know what it is. I labelled it fungus, but I'm not quite sure. I'm going to send a photo to the local herbarium for an identification. The colour in the photo is completely accurate and stands out on a blackish brown tree stump very vividly.
